1 π’ Overview
Battleship Ranked is NavyBlitz's competitive 1v1 mode. Every match against another real player counts toward your Battle Rating (BR), your placement on the global leaderboards, and your progress through the current season.
Your goal is to climb the 8 leagues (from Seaman to Legend), finish each season as high as possible to claim the season chest, and unlock milestones along the Naval Route with every victory.
2 β Battle Rating (BR)
The Battle Rating is the numeric score that defines your competitive level. You start at 1,000 BR after calibration. Every win adds BR; every loss subtracts it. The higher your BR, the higher your league and the better the rewards you can claim.
How much BR is at stake per match?
NavyBlitz uses an ELO system with progressive K-factor by league: highly generous in the early leagues (more BR gained than lost) and fully symmetrical at the top. These are the baseline values against an opponent of your same BR β they adjust up or down depending on the rating gap between players:
| League | Win | Loss |
|---|---|---|
| β Seaman | +40 | β15 |
| π° Officer | +35 | β17 |
| β Lieutenant | +30 | β20 |
| βοΈ Captain | +28 | β22 |
| π‘οΈ Commodore | +25 | β23 |
| π± Admiral | +22 | β22 |
| π Grand Admiral | +20 | β20 |
| π Legend | +18 | β18 |
Initial calibration
Your first 5 ranked matches form the calibration phase. During this period:
- BR swings are more volatile so the system locates your real skill level quickly.
- You don't appear on the public leaderboards.
- You can't be demoted from a league even if your BR drops below the threshold.
Rank Shield
When you promote to a higher league (Officer, Lieutenant, etc.), you receive a 24-hour Rank Shield. During that window you can't be demoted even if your BR falls below the threshold. It's the safety net so you can test the new level without pressure.
Daily first-win bonus
Your first competitive win of the day grants an extra bonus of +50 BR and +5 FC, on top of the usual match reward. Only the first win each UTC day counts.
3 π Leagues and Divisions
NavyBlitz has 8 leagues, from Seaman (the entry tier for newcomers) to Legend (the peak of competitive play).
Each league, except Grand Admiral and Legend, is split into 3 divisions (I, II, III). You climb divisions within a league by winning matches, and promote to the next league once you cross its BR threshold.
| League | Min. BR | Entry | Win prize | Season chest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seaman | 0 | β | β | β |
| Officer | 800 | 5 FC | 8 FC | 30 FC + 50 BR |
| Lieutenant | 1,200 | 10 FC | 16 FC | 75 FC + 150 BR |
| Captain | 1,600 | 20 FC | 32 FC | 150 FC + 300 BR |
| Commodore | 2,000 | 40 FC | 64 FC | 300 FC + 600 BR |
| Admiral | 2,400 | 80 FC | 128 FC | 600 FC + 1,200 BR |
| Grand Admiral | 2,800 | 150 FC | 240 FC | 1,000 FC + 2,000 BR |
| Legend | 3,200 | 300 FC | 480 FC | 2,000 FC + 4,000 BR |
4 π° Entry Fee and Win Prize
Every ranked match requires an entry fee in FleetCoins (FC) deducted when you confirm the search. The winner receives the full prize associated with the league; the loser forfeits their entry. The gap between what both players contribute and the prize awarded sustains the mode's economy.
Entry fees and prizes scale with your league (see table in Β§3). The higher you go, the bigger the return per win β but also the bigger the loss if you're defeated.
5 π Seasons
Each NavyBlitz season lasts exactly 14 days. The closing date and countdown are always visible in the top-right corner of the Battleship Ranked modal.
What resets at season change
- Season BR: returns to 0. This is the metric that drives the Naval Route.
- Season stats: wins, losses and streaks for the season reset to zero.
- Naval Route: restarts with a new set of milestones.
- Daily and Weekly leaderboards: clear out.
What does NOT reset
- Total BR (Current BR): undergoes a proportional soft-reset. You keep 60% of your progress above the base (1,000 BR), not dropping to zero.
- Historical Peak BR: permanently recorded.
- Fleet masteries: progression persists across seasons.
- Titles and cosmetics: once unlocked, they're yours forever.
6 π Season Rewards
At season close you receive a rewards chest based on the highest league you reached during the period (not necessarily where you finished). Rewards are cumulative: if your peak was Commodore, you also receive the prizes from the lower leagues (Captain, Lieutenant and Officer).
FC and BR amounts per league are detailed in the table in Β§3. In addition, from Admiral upward, exclusive cosmetics unlock: animated avatar frames, titles with special effects and personalized explosion VFX.
7 πΊοΈ Naval Route (Season Pass)
The Naval Route is NavyBlitz's season pass: a sequence of milestones unlocked by accumulating Season BR (in other words, winning ranked matches during the active period). Each milestone grants a reward: FC, cosmetics or temporary boosts.
How to progress
Only positive BR earned during the current season counts. A win that grants you +20 BR adds those 20 to the Naval Route counter. Losses do not subtract season BR: pass progress never goes backwards.
Claiming milestones
When you unlock a milestone, a "Claim" button appears. It's important to claim before the season ends: unclaimed milestones are lost at season close. We recommend checking the Naval Route regularly so no rewards are left behind.
8 π Leaderboards
NavyBlitz offers 8 distinct leaderboards. Each measures a different dimension of competitive play, and all update in real time after every match.

9 ποΈ Fleet Masteries
NavyBlitz features four ship classes: Carrier (4 cells), Battleship (3), Destroyer (2) and Patrol (1). Each class has its own mastery bar, which advances every time you destroy an enemy ship of that category.
Every mastery level unlocks a unique reward: cosmetic titles exclusive to that class, dedicated visual effects and FC bonuses. Progression is persistent and does not reset with the season.
10 β οΈ Penalties
Match abandonment
If you close the app, surrender or run out the grace window after disconnecting during a ranked match, the system records it as an abandonment and applies the following consequences:
- Per abandonment: the match counts as a loss (BR loss), your entry is forfeited, and you enter a 5-minute cooldown before searching for another ranked match.
- 3 abandonments in 24 hours: on top of the cooldown, a 1-hour temporary ban from ranked mode is applied. The counter resets daily at 00:00 UTC.
Inactivity
If you take no action during a full turn (no shots, no chat), you lose that turn automatically. If this repeats over several consecutive turns, the match closes for timeout and counts as an abandonment.
11 β Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play Battleship Ranked as a newcomer?
Yes. There's no minimum level. Your first 5 matches form the calibration phase: the system matches you against players at your real skill level and adjusts BR aggressively. Once calibrated, you officially begin in the Seaman league with 1,000 BR.
Why do I lose more BR than I gain?
If your opponent has a noticeably lower BR than yours, beating them awards few points (because "you were expected to win") while losing to them hits hard. The way to balance it out is to face opponents at your level or above, where BR exchange is more favorable. Automatic matchmaking tends to correct these gaps as you progress.
How do I climb from Seaman to Officer?
You need to reach 800 BR (Seaman starts at 1,000 after calibration, so promotion depends on the outcome of your early competitive matches). Once promoted, you get 24 hours of Rank Shield to settle into the new level without demotion risk.
What happens if I disconnect by accident?
You have 60 seconds to reconnect before the match is considered abandoned. If you make it back in time, everything continues intact: your shots, your fleet and the turn you were on.
Can I lose my league at season change?
Your BR undergoes a proportional soft-reset when seasons change: you retain 60% of your progress above the base (1,000 BR), which means you may drop a league if your peak was modest. However, rewards already claimed, titles and cosmetics are permanent β they're never lost.
How do I enter the Legend league?
By passing 3,200 BR during the season. It's the only league with no divisions β only your global standing matters. Staying in it demands consistent performance; any sustained drop below 3,200 BR demotes you to Grand Admiral.
Are FC rewards cumulative or do they replace each other?
Cumulative. If you finish the season in Captain (150 FC), you receive those 150 plus the lower-league rewards: Lieutenant (75) + Officer (30) = 255 FC total. BR rewards work the same way.
Do masteries affect BR?
Not directly. Masteries are a parallel progression that rewards destroying specific ship types. They influence your cosmetic side (animated titles, visual effects) and your FC bonuses, but they don't modify your BR or your leaderboard position.
Can I review replays of my matches?
Yes. In the "History" tab, click any match marked with the REPLAY tag. A viewer opens with your fleet, shots turn by turn and playback controls at x0.5, x1, x2, x3 and x5 speed.
